I have decided to leave my position as Director of Debate for the
Lakeland (NY) Central School District effective June 30. The district
is seeking a highly-qualified replacement ASAP.
The Lakeland Central School District is committed to having a
nationally-prominent policy debate program and has provided enormous
support during my tenure. The position is a tenure-track, full time
faculty position but requires NO TEACHING LOAD. The travel budget is
decent and growing, there is money to hire assistants and there exists
a solid gene pool from which to recruit. This is a terrific
opportunity for someone who wants to seriously coach debate. While
being certified as a classroom teacher is NOT a requirement for the
position, candidates must be willing to attain certification in a
timely manner. The salary is HIGHLY competitive, commensurate with
experience. Candidates should have a proven track-record of coaching
successful debate teams on the high school and/or college levels.
Lakeland is located in northern suburban Westchester County, about
one hour (under normal traffic conditions) from Times Square.
Interested candidates should contact Greg
Varley(gvarley at lakelandschools.org) for more information. I will
be at the ToC this weekend and would be happy to answer any questions
about the position. Feel free to email me at this address as well.
Cheers
K
