Dear Colleagues,

Chaminade College Preparatory is pleased to announce the 2005 Western
Regional Debate Championships to be hosted on our campus April 1-3, 2005.
The tournament will offer six preliminary rounds of policy debate and
appropriate elimination rounds in both varsity and novice divisions. The
tournament will be held on the Chaminade Campus in West Hills, CA, which is
close to such attractions as Universal Studios, Six Flags Magic Mountain,
beautiful beaches, and the sights of Hollywood, CA. We invite you to come
out to Southern California for a wonderful weekend of debate.

HOTEL: The designated tournament hotel is the Hilton in Woodland Hills. The
facility is outstanding and the rate of $79/night for double rooms with up
to 4 people is unheard of in the area! The block expires a month before the
tournament, so please get your reservations in early. Rooms are being held
in a block called Chaminade Debate Tournament and reservations can be made
by calling 818-595-1000. You should make reservations as soon as possible.
If our block fills or you attempt to make reservations after the block has
closed, your options will be very limited and quite expensive.

ENTRIES: Please be aware that Chaminade College Preparatory is a SMALL
school. We will take entries on a first come basis, but we can only
accommodate a limited number of teams. Additional entries will be placed on
a waiting list in the order they arrive. Please enter early! Entries will
be accepted through the Bruschke system online at (www.debateresults.com) or
via email to Don Baker (ccpdebate at gmail.com). No phone or fax entries will
be accepted. If using the online entry system, please print out your entry
and bring to registration for verification purposes. Any changes should be
submitted online or via email as well. Entries are due no later than
Monday, March 28, 2005, and drops will be accepted until Wednesday, March
30, 2005. Any drops made after this deadline will be required to pay the
entry fee for the dropped team.

TRANSPORTATION: The closest airport is Los Angeles International Airport,
although Burbank is also relatively close. The hotel and campus are
approximately 45 minutes north of LAX. Unfortunately we cannot provide local
transportation, but there are a variety of rental car agencies available at
the airport. The Hilton is located just off the 101 Freeway. From LAX take
the 405 freeway north to the 101 North/West. Exit the 101 on Canoga and head
north. The hotel will be on your right side just past the Cheesecake
Factory.

CHAMINADE: Chaminade College Preparatory is located on Cohasset St. between
Woodlake Ave. and Platt Ave. (7500 Chaminade Ave., West Hills, CA 91304).
To get to the campus from the hotel start by taking right out of the parking
lot, and proceed to Victory Blvd., make a left, and then make a right onto
Topanga Canyon Blvd. Go down Topanga Canyon until you come to Sherman Way
and take a left. Continue until Woodlake Ave. and take a right, and then a
left onto Cohasset St. Chaminade College Preparatory is located on the
right hand side of the street.

CAMPUS POLICIES: The Chaminade College Preparatory is a smoke-free campus.
There is no smoking in ANY building on campus. PLEASE abide by this policy
so that we may continue to use these facilities in subsequent years.
Chaminade College Preparatory is also a drug and alcohol free campus.

ENTRY FEES:

School Fee: $25.00

Each Policy Team: $80.00

Uncovered Policy Team: $100.00

Checks should be made payable to Chaminade College Prep or Don Baker

JUDGING: Each school is expected to provide one judge per two teams they
bring. Each judge will be obligated for one round beyond the elimination of
their team. Uncovered policy entries will be charged a fee of $100.00 per
uncovered entry.

TOURNAMENT POLICY: Each adjudication of a debate MUST result in one win and
one loss. Moreover, we have built into the schedule 30 minutes of time
between the time pairings are released and the time the round must start.
This luxury is to ensure that the tournament runs on time, and gives coaches
adequate time to prepare their debaters. In addition, copies of pairings
will be made available to each competitor and coach.

TOPICS: We will use the NFL 2004-2005 policy topic - Resolved: That the
United States federal government should establish a foreign policy
substantially increasing its support of United Nations Peacekeeping
Operations.
