NOTIFICATION OF AT-LARGE BIDS IN POLICY, LD, AND CONGRESS
If you submitted an at-large bid in LD, Policy, or Congress, you will be
notified on or before April 1 of the status of your application. Congress
at-large applications have already gone to my Advisory Committee for their
recommendations. Lincoln-Douglas and two-person policy applications will go
to Advisory Committees next week. We need about a week after the committee
votes for us to process their recommendations and make final decisions.
SCHEDULES
1) In Student Congress, we will have a preliminary session on Saturday,
another prelim session on Sunday, and the Super Congress on Monday
afternoon. Those in this division should not plan to leave Lexington before
7p.m. on Monday.
2) In Lincoln-Douglas, we will have four prelims on Saturday, three on
Sunday, followed by any runoffs if they are needed. The four elimination
rounds will follow the awards breakfast on Monday morning. The final round
usually concludes between 8 and 9p.m. on Monday.
3) In two-person policy, we will have four prelims on Saturday, three on
Sunday, followed by a runoff round if needed to clear all 5-2's. Elimination
rounds will begin after the awards breakfast on Monday morning. The final
round usually ends between 11 and 12 on Monday night.
TOC REGISTRATION
Registration for the TOC and all events will take place in the Lexington
Suite of the Ramada Inn between 6:30 and 11:30 p.m. on Friday evening.
Participants who do not register on Friday evening will not be entered in
the first rounds on Saturday morning. THERE WILL BE NO REGISTRATION ON
SATURDAY MORNING.
AP EXAMS
As you know, AP Exams begin on Monday, the final day of the TOC. Our
alternative would have been to go the next weekend, which would have brought
us in the middle of AP Exams as well as Mother's Day.
All is not hopeless as far as the exams. YOUR SCHOOL IS PERMITTED TO GIVE A
MAKE-UP IF THEY ELECT TO DO SO. Most schools will do this if you are on a
school-sponsored activity. I wouldn't think it would hurt to ask.
DEADLINES
The teams for the Public Forum Round-Robin have been selected. If you did
not apply and still would like to do so, we will consider your application
if we have drops.
In Student Congress, at-large applications were mailed to my advisory
committee yesterday. We will not have any results, however, until April 1.
That is the deadline for fully-qualified applicants. At-large applicants
will be added to bring the total number to 74 if positions are open.
In Lincoln-Douglas and policy, at-large applications are due in Lexington by
5pm tomorrow, March 11. They will be mailed to my advisory committees next
Tuesday or Wednesday. We will notify people who have been granted an
at-large application position on or before April 1.
Sincerely,
J.W. Patterson
TOC Director & Founder
